Sex and the City

I do absolutely love the serial and the movie ...but I am not going to discuss it here...

It just hit me one of these days when my colleague was discussing on the image factor in Office. our ‘sex ‘ is still being judged under the narrow scales of pseudo –morality standards in this city as in any other city .Small or big, metro or retro, IT driven or Business dominated.

She told me not to mention my marital status in office because then things will be different as many people already think I am being unwise in taking control of my life.

I am more professional than anyone else in office and my seniors know that .They judge me on my work and that’s enough for me. I don’t need opinion of Mr. anybody’s of office as to whom to talk and how to dress up. I have been told at least hundred times that I am the best professionally dressed up woman in my office. I can but sympathize with others who just see skirts.

People are too eager to classify and categorize you, if you are wearing skirts, drinking and moving around with guys, you are bad girl, who don’t value culture and religion. I just choose to ignore people with such mentality. I am well over the age when I can choose what to wear and what to drink and whom to hang out with … thanks guys I don’t like things that are free, and that include your advices.

And then people raising an eyebrow every time you mention you live alone …do I need to mention why they do so. Guys! There is much more in life than boyfriends and sex.

It’s another problem to be strong independent women (I would like to keep that face even if I am dying inside). You are heartless and insensitive if you don’t cry and look pathetic. You are a suspect when you are not blaming, and you are arrogant and aloof when you are not publicly washing your dirty laundry .your silence and smile can be your most devious enemies at times. Call me whatever you want to, I smile in public and cry alone.

And I love my life in spite of the odds …

People have many problem of their own and to take focus off their "own six in the soup" and get it out of there, they waste their time making other's lives miserable by butting in.
Tell those losers to p*** off and you do what you want. Now, my aunt who has 2 of her own sons "eligible" to be married is really not paying attention to them, instead making my life hell by telling my mom to get me married when I'm not even close to being ready. Call me Americanized or whatever you want, I'm off in a few days to my own apartment if this continues.

Beautiful. Very honest, no nonsense truth.

There's an upside and downside to everything, that includes both the independent and the familial lifestyle.

Look on the bright side, keep being your awesome self :)

I look it from another point. Is it not true that only arrogant and insensitive women are called independent?

bravo!!!

not for doing it....many of us do it...

but for spelling it out in the open.

Stay the way you are girl...and remember that those who comment on the skirts would actually give anything to be inside them...and i mean gossip mongers of both sexes.

They just dont have the guts.

You go ahead and live your life! Only you can live your own life. No one else can do it for you...

Our delicate minds are eroded with a lot of "free information" including negativity through the media and the society around us. Often without our knowledge, we do what others want us to do. We look at others as towhat they wear, what they eat and of course how they behave and slowly get influenced by them. It's like every Miss. beauty, Miss. slims and Miss. good manners are telling you! I guess we need to use our own mind and live life.

Keep Blogging!

Biju: thanks :-)

Rakesh :- its not about me ...i mighnt and might not do it ..and its not that who dnt wear skirts , who dont drink and who have no guy pals is not awesome ..I mean this is just anybody's choice ..what to wear , eat /drink and whom to be with ...I hate it when people call someone cool , oh so behenji kinds ,and talk about moral values ...

I do live alone ..coz i need my space and privacy ..:-)

thanks for visiting everyone ..i have been off for a while ..wil try to read all your posts in next few days ..

Why they say this is a bad life.... is simply because of jealousy....

To live alone, to drink, to move with the opposite sex freely, to have fun all the time... is great... people envy it and if they cant do it... term it as bad !!!

cheers... live life kingsize...

your reminding me the good old... rowdy days of college !!!

I think people who make comments like that and give useless advice are the biggest hippocrates.. First of all if they are such sincere people then why they digging life of a single women, secondly why they eyeing on a women with a skirt? When men talk to me about culture, i tell them men's cultural attire is either a dhoti, lungi or kurta pajama, they dare that to office.. Lets see..
